Good morning! I thought I'd tell you more about the holidays!
The weather was what disappointed us more. We'd heard that by Easter the temperature would be 25-30 degrees already, which couldn't be further from the truth. It's true when it's sunny it's really warm and nice, but we've only had three days with sun and the rest have been rather frisky and rainy. We've been moving around everyday despite the rain but everytime we saw the sun we'd put our bikinis on and get down to the pool.

This is the only time I could bath. The water was extremely cold and at the beginning it was even hard to breathe because of the low temperature.

The days where it was cloudy we went to the neighbour cities. Here we are in Konakli - which is the centre closest to our hotel - and it's a very small village with mostly markets. The area is full of bazaars and very persisting salesmen. One thing that caught my eye is that there are almost no women at the bazaars because even though they are aloud to work, the most conservative muslims prefer them not to. It would be an understatement to say that we brought all the attention to ourselves.

Here we are smoking from the shisha. I had the impression that Turkish men who work with tourists are more used to girls drinking alcohol and smoking, even though at the hotel we got served smaller alcohol glasses than men! This is something that got a little to me. First because I come from a land where women drink and smoke just as much as men. And secondly because I pay exactly the same price for my holidays as the rest of men and I expect to be treated equally! I realise that I am the one travelling to a Muslim land, but I thought of hotels as a bit of a "neutral" area. Despite this I realize that the youngest men are a bit more European-influenced and have no problem at all with women who want to enjoy a cockatil and dance.

Down here we are in the city of Alanya at the market (or bazaar). The thing goes a bit like this: "Lady! Lady! Where are you from?" (This seems to be something important for them when putting a starting price. If you say "Norway" they assume you are wealthy and give you a higher price. So we'd always say "Spain" instead). And then they continue: "Best price for you yes? Lady lady! Come here! I give you pretty girl discount yes?". Haha, they are indeed persistant. The best way to get them off your back is to not make eye contact and walk fast. We only bought at one store precisely because there was nobody bugging us. It was the only bazaar where we say a Turkish woman with her husband working. The woman spoke very little English but she was really nice and we bought a lot of stuff all three of us.

Here we are on the buss that connects Alanya to our hotel. The busses are old, small and filthy. And I am not lying that Turkish people pay their ticket when they get off the bus, instad of paying when they get on. The bus drivers are the most unfriendly people you can meet. Sometimes they even start driving the bus while you are on the stairs to get on! Once I almost fell down because of this. What an asshole of a driver! When I got off I threw the coins at them while giving him a nasty look. How bad to treat tourists this way.
Unlike bus drivers everybody else in the tourism industry is very friendly. Sometimes even too friendly and service oriented! They start cleaning the tables before you have swallowed your last piece of chicken. I see they do it to emphasize how clean they are but it can be a little too intense at the same time. You finish your drink and in the blink of an eye you have no glass, no plate, no napkin, no nothing!
We tried to be careful and not take a picture of any local so they wouldn't come and ask us for money. That can happen in other countries like Egypt or Jordan, but in the end we realized it's maybe not something Turks do. At least not to us.

One of those rainy days I thought I'd go down to the hotel's hair and nail salong and get a manicure. I have never payed to get my nails done before. And after this, I won't again! The manicure was awful. She removed my cuticules with so much energy she made my fingernails bleed! I had to ask her for a napkin because if it had been for her my nails would have been bleeding for the whole hour! And then she started to paint my nails pink. The whole thing was so boring that I asked her to paint a flower on the nails. She stared at me like that was the most bizarre request in the world. If I wanted plain pink nails I could have done them myself! So she started to paint and you have no idea what awful flowers she did. They were only fuchsia dots put all together with different sizes. I am pretty sure she did not have parkinson so the reason why the flowers were so shitty I have no idea. The result was so ugly she even asked me if I wanted her to start over again. I refuse to be a bitchy client, but when I am paying her 10€ I expect something nice at the very least. So I said yes. This time I chose a pale lila color. She painted them and once again I told her that one color is boring, because I can also do that myself. So she took two stickers and put them on my pinky fingers. That's it. I realised then I was not getting any good manicure anyway, so I payed and left. My fingernails still bleeding. Awful. Later on I borrowed some glitter from Doribeth and put some on my nails. I am never getting another manicure without seeing someone's credentials in advance!

Thursday was the most awful day. It was raining heavily and Dori had left to Alanya to color her hair brown. Diana and I stayed at the hotel, beingbored and I went to the spa to get a facial. I got it for half the price as I would get it in Norway or Spain. And let me tell you it was the best facial I have ever gotten! Really nice, relaxing and I have no blackheads! She was so careful to not hurt me when squeezing my nose and she massaged my face and then my neck. It was service all the time. In other places sometimes the beautician leaves the room 5 minutes while the face cream is working its effect, but she didn't. She stayed there and massaged my neck while the cream was working. I almost fell asleep there because - praise the lord - she didn't make conversation. I don't know about you but when I go to the spa I want to relax and beauticians who talk too much don't relax me at all! This did make up a little bit for the manicure I had gotten the day before. And I came back to my room in an excellent mood. At nights we'd go down to the lobby and drink vodka with cola. Then we'd go to the hotel's disco.

To top our luck with the weather, the day we left was the most beautiful of all. Half of the hotel was down at the pool, except for us who were waiting to be picked up with our luggages packed up. It was the warmest, sunniest day of all. How typical!
At least we had some sun, good food and better cocktails! And the weather back home in Trondheim is excellent!

I am really happy we got to travel together on a girl trip and have had such a nice time! Happy St.Jordi to everyone in Catalonia! If you want to know what St.Jordi is you should click here.

I am going to watch some movies I've downloaded now. Mostly chickfilsm because I am home alone. Jonny is still in Trysil. I miss him so much! But it's movienight for little Eva, yippi!
See ya!
