The first Christmas gifts!

Today I met with Diana and Doribeth, because Dori is leaving for Honduras tomorrow and we're not seeing each other until January. So we had coffee and cake, and exchanged Christmas presents. I got a fantastic pyjama from Doribeth (I didn't find a picture of the trousers though) and some really soft slippers.

And Diana got me this wonderful Guess wallet. Mine is actually red. It's very shiny and made of leather. I love it! And it matches my Guess handbag!

Christmas shopping!

Yesterday, Jonny and I went Christmas shopping. We bought a lot but we aren't done yet. So far this are the gifts to my family and friends (I still got to buy the gifts to my parents). I'm gonna have to take the big suitcase to Barcelona I'm guessing. This year I'm spending Christmas in Barcelona as always, but I'll be travelling to Trysil for New Year's. It's going to be cosy having a white Christmas for once! Like in the Christmas cards, where everything is white.

How's your Christmas shopping going? What are your plans for the holidays?

Work

I am so exhausted!! I've worked 58 hours this week. And there has been so much to do! Full hotel, lots of guests and extra hours! So I'm glad I have free tomorrow because today my energy was lower than ever! I barely can keep myself awake when I come from work. I took this in the elevator hehe, I am smiling in the picture but I was really tired. In two years that I have worked at Chesterfield, there has never been so many rooms as today! The grand finale for an exhausting week. This job is so physical, you know. You never get to sit down for a while (except for when you have a break, of course). So you feel the stress in your muscles and especially in the back. Well, enough whinning for now. I have free tomorrow! Probably I'm going Christmas shopping with Jonny. Gonna be fun trying to get presents without having an idea of what people wish for themselves. Good luck with that....

A different day

Today has been a different day at work. One guest was so drunk he refused to leave his room. Everyone is suppsed to check out at noon, but it was already 3pm and that drunkhead was lying in bed and ignoring the several times we told him he had to leave. In the end, we had to call the police who came inmediately and forced him out.
So much fun huhuhu!!! :-P
Also, there was a seminar on tarot in the meetingroom. Since it was a seminar and they needed to practice, we offered ourselves as volunteers. I do not belive in these things but I thought it would be funny to hear what they had to say. So I got my fortune told by a man named Helge. I wish for him that he has another job, 'cause the man stinks at this. He didn't get anything right at all!
He told me things that were obvious because of things he had asked me before! Example: "Do you have a fix job?". My answer: "Well, I work depending on how many guests are at the hotel, so sometimes I work more and sometimes less". His interpretation: "I think you wish for.... more..... security... and a fix job!!". Nooooooo.... REALLY???
Amongst other stupidites he also told me that my boyfriend is a materialist and I (as in me EVA) is very much focused on saving money!!!!! HAAAAA!!!! Me who used 300€ on two Jimmy Choo dresses when I almost had no money for anything! Me who has a savings account of 0 crowns!! The queen of saving!!!
He also said that in the matter of travelling things are quiet. I travelled to Barcelona in september, I just came back from England, and I am going to Barcelona again in 3 weeks. How is that quiet??
Well.. I was sceptical before but now I can confirm that this tarot stuff is plain bullshit. Or maybe he is the only one that has to do some serious studying! Camilla (the hotel receptionist) got a lady and she seemed happy with what the lady told her! Camilla is quitting her job and moving to Barcelona next month. Apparently the lady told her there would be some travelling and a change of job. Which is pretty much what's going to happen. Maybe it was casuality, who knows? But it is going to take way more than this to convince me that tarot works. Sorry! :-P

Job offer

Look closely because I will soon be standing in there! Today my boss offered me a position at the hotel's reception! Up til now I've been working as a room maid, unsure that my Norwegian was good enough for a job towards the public. After Nidaros I think I can manage well. And amongst the hotel staff I am the one that has worked at Chesterfield the longest. In addition that I am the only one with an education in tourism and who speaks 5 languages. These two years have helped me improve my Norwegian and now it's time to make use of what I've learned! My only concern is picking up the phone. I suck at it! Somehow the non-body language situation makes the understanding very difficult for me. But as I told my boss, I've got to through myself to the swimming-pool! So first, I am going to spend some time in reception with the main receptionist to learn everything and eventually I will work every other weekend in reception and the rest of days in the rooms like I've been doing so far. I'm a bit nervous about it but it's a good step forward!

Today's happenings

Today I woke up at 7. I slept horrible! Around 1 am I went to bed even though I wasn't even remotely tired. But I had to work today, so I went to bed anyway. Jonny stayed awake. Not that I mind, but I like to have him in bed with me (I do like when we go to sleep together babe ;P). And for you naughty minds - I'm not talking dirty here!! Anyhow.. I couldn't sleep. And I realised that my insomnia is due to remorse. I have been spending the barbarious amount (at least I think it's a lot) of 3,000 Norwegian crowns (390€) in my trip to England. Plus, another 2,000 (well.... plus a bit more!) in the Jimmy Choo clothes. And I noticed I am damn closed to red numbers! And then I started to think... "Fuck! The houserent for december, the Christmas gifts, the electricity bill soon..... etc etc!". OMG!!! "How can I be so irresponsible?" I told myself.

After sleeping barely 4 hours, I stood up. Jonny was still awake. I dressed myself, left without eating anything and went to work. And then I am told that tomorrow the inspector is coming! And I'm not talking about the inspector Gadget here. The annual inspection is the worst day/week ever!!! We have to wash every single corner, in addition to set up clean curtains averywhere (43 rooms... almost nothing huh!), we have to iron bedclothes... etc. It's a nightmare!
Then we have a staff meeting, where I am basically informed the hotel changes its owners and unhappy with that decision my top boss decides to quit. And this time I actually liked my boss!
But then... something 'good' happened: my other boss asks me if I can work all days of this week (except for wednesday when I can have free). Looks like this might help my finantial crisis after all! Today I worked extra hours to help for tomorrow's inspection and I had some money saved from before in case of crisis. But next time I want to compulsively use my credit card, I hope a lightning with fall from the sky and burn my fingers!!!

Jimmy Choo in my closet

On the internet, nice and easy. No queueing, no fighting with other hysterical females... just a couple of clicks and it's done! Two pieces of the Jimmy Choo collection!

70-themed party!

Tonight I was at Christian's (Dori's husband) birthday party which was 70s-themed, so we all did our best to look as much 70s as we could and here are the results! So much fun!!!

Back home!

Just today it has snowed here in Trondheim and this time it looks like it's going to stay snowed for a long while! Not that it makes me happy... this is the time when everything is slippery, you need five minutes to dress up in thick warm winter clothes before you go out, and the winter sports season starts everywhere! Blah.... On the other hand, I like it when the trees are all white,it's cosy.

Well, this is how my bathroom shelf looks like right now! Filled up with Clinique, The Body Shop and Clarins. I think I have enough cosmetics for the year! Hihihi, bless you England!

And more stuff I don't really need but I very much want: Cosmopolitan and an agenda to write everything (or else I tend to forget things).

And the magic cupboard of party fun! Have you tried the Absolut Vodka with fruit flavours?? They're goooooooood!! And OF COURSE a bottle of Malibu! I haven't been drinking Malibu for a long while now, because here in Norway it is extremely overpriced! Do you know a 75cls bottle of Malibu costs around 36€? Insanity! This one I bought in England, in a liquor shops that was closing and which sold everything EVEN cheaper!
Tonight I'm going to a birthday party and the theme is the 70s. Damn it... I don't have clothes from the 70s nor wish I to have. To put it mildly, people from the 70s had their taste up the ass. I am sure the only reason they dared to show themselves out un public in those outfits is because everyone was high on marijuana. And let's not forget the 80s (well, those were even worse because they had the same horrible clothes plus awful hairdos). Anyway, I am supposed to go dressed the 70s way, and I have no idea how I can pull that off. I am gonna wear the same Mango fuchsia dress I wore for my birthday party last year and I'll try something in my hair. I think that after Halloween we've spent way too much in costumes (and not to mention if you also have been in a shopping trip to England). I think it is a bit dumb to require to your guests to dress like the 70s, because I am sure nobody has that type of clothes hanging in their closet. There's a reason why they're clothes from the 70s!!! And even though there are 70s inspired clothes, they are not quite the same. In any case, the important thing is to try and go have some fun. That's at least what I'm gonna do! See ya!

My new tattoo!

Not the best pictures really, but again it is difficult to take a picture of that area without flashing something I should not be flashing, so this is the best I could do for now. Maybe I'll ask Jonny to take a better picture later on. Thoughts?

Dog racing in Brighton

Today we've been at the dog racing. I think it was kinda boring but the rest seemed to have fun with the betting. Specially Jonny, who won 50 pounds (500 Norwegian crowns) in one single bet! And that's not the only time he got lucky! So he came out of the stadium richer than before he got in. Later on, we went shopping! Yes, some shops are open on sundays in Brighton (the gay capital of England).

England, baby!!!

So it looks like I did not forget the cable after all, so I posted some pictures! These are from yesterday night. Jonny's brother amazed us with some fireworks and we enjoyed it like little kids! The 5th of November is a celebration day in England, where people lit fireworks to "conmemorate" that long ago a man tried to burn the parliament down. Bet you didn't know that, huh? Yeah... neither did I!

This is the cathedral of the Holy Trinity of Chichester. It is gothic and it reminds me very much of Nidaros, just that this one is bigger...

Me getting inked!! (Here I'm trying to pretend like I wasn't suffering...)

Hein and Kelly (Jonny's brother and his girlfriend) have three bunnies in their garden. Kelly's son, Jack, has three lovely pets! Lucky kid!! (I'm green with envy.... just kidding!)

This is in the centre of Chichester. This monument works as the city centre and unites South Street with West Street, North Street, and East Street. Like this it's not hard to orientate yourself!

I'm away!

I'm not posting so much because I'm in England right now. So far it's been amazing! There is so much shopping to do! And people here are just so polite and lovely!!!! I love England! Today we've been shopping all day in Portsmouth. I got a lot of Clinique beauty products, Calvin Klein underwear and pyjamas (up to the left), a new expensive designer dress, the new Kat von D book (up to the right), a black dressy blazer, some new shorts from Peacock (that shop rocks!!!) and a new jacket that my boyfriend bought me and that I haven't seen yet! In addition, I have student discount! Live couldn't be more generous to me right now! I'll post pictures when I get back since I (as usual) did not bring the USB cable for my digital camera. I'll keep you posted!
